BIOGRAPHY

Anna was born in Germany, a country known for its rich culture and history. Growing up in a multicultural household, with Greek parents, Anna was exposed to diverse traditions and perspectives from a young age. When she was 11 years old, her parents made the decision to move back to Greece, their home country. Despite the change in surroundings, Anna’s passion for art remained constant. It was in Greece that she truly began to flourish and explore her creativity. At school, Anna dedicated herself to studying graphic design and photography, honing her skills and expanding her artistic horizons. After completing high school, Anna took a courageous leap and decided to take a year off. This break allowed her to delve deeper into her artistic pursuits, spending countless hours drawing and painting. With each stroke of the brush, she meticulously crafted a portfolio that would eventually pave the way for her future studies in Art. Although Anna dreamt of studying Art in Germany, unforeseen circumstances prevented her from pursuing that path. But, ever resilient, she didn’t let this setback dampen her spirit. Instead, she decided to shift gears and explore another passion – complementary therapies and massage. This new field of study allowed Anna to gain a unique set of skills and knowledge, while still incorporating elements of creativity and healing. Through it all, Anna’s underlying ambition and dream never wavered. Deep down, she knew that her true calling was to be an artist. With determination and unwavering faith in her abilities, Anna continues to pursue her artistry, embracing every opportunity to express herself and bring her imagination to life. The journey may have taken unexpected turns, but Anna’s passion for art remains as strong as ever, a testament to her resilience and unwavering dedication.
In 1998, she had the opportunity to showcase her talent in Greece through not just one, but two captivating solo exhibitions. Additionally, during this period, she dedicated her time and creativity towards creating impressive large-scale murals. As a testament to her prowess, many collectors recognized the value and beauty of her works from this era, resulting in numerous pieces being added to their personal collections. The impact of her art during this fruitful time was truly remarkable.
In 2002, Anna made a life-changing decision to move to Australia, where she embarked on a new journey and formed the foundation of her own family. Joining the Sydney Home Education Network, a vibrant and diverse community, Anna was exposed to a wealth of creativity and intelligence. Over the course of eight enriching years, her thirst for knowledge became insatiable. She found herself delving into a vast array of subjects, exploring the depths of art and its boundless possibilities. Through active participation in organizing workshops and events held in renowned museums and galleries, Anna’s passion for art and creativity was ignited, reaching new heights. This newfound love for learning became an integral part of her identity, fueling her desire to continuously grow and embrace the enchanting world of art.
In 2015, Anna attended the Casula Powerhouse public programs and participated in the Phone-agraphs, a street photography workshop organized in collaboration with the Australian Centre of Photography. This workshop provided Anna with a new avenue to explore her creativity, igniting her passion for photography. As time went on, Anna delved deeper into the art form, attending numerous workshops, exhibitions, and even participating in the Women’s Art Prize. Her dedication to the arts grew stronger with each passing day, further emphasizing the importance of her desire to pursue formal education in art. It became evident that attending an art school held significant meaning for Anna, as it would nurture her artistic abilities and allow her to fully immerse herself in this expressive medium.
In 2016 she did the Museum and Gallery skills course at the Meadowbank TAFE, while getting her portfolio organised. Photography was her main creative outlet at the time. In the end of 2016, she was successfully admitted to the National Art School, with an interview score in the top 10 percent. In 2017 she started at NAS. Her photo Favori was selected for the Alliance Francaise photo-competition. During the first year of art school, her group won the skeleton award from Sydney East Doctors. She participated in the Sustainable Waste to Art Prize, with her wire sculpture with recycled electrical wire, The Bravery Unmasked exhibition and Liverpool Art Society awards. She volunteered at the Hazelhurst regional Gallery and at the WOW festival at Casula Powerhouse. She entered the Heart of Anandale. She was part of the Photomedia Exhibition in the Hoff Space at the National Art School in 2018.
In 2019 Anna participated in the Proximity workshop at the Articulate Project Space, with a chair and wire installation. She attended all the Art-Forums at NAS, visited galleries and the Sydney-Contemporary Art fair. She created many paintings, assemblages, collages, wire-construction works, installations, alongside with studying Drawing and Art-History. She volunteered for the Second Year Landscape exhibition and the Australian Object Art History Forum. She was invited to participate In Articulate turns nine yearly exhibition and showed her assemblage and wire sculpture. She also collaborated with other artists on a mural project in the city center. This project garnered a lot of attention and positive feedback from the local community. Additionally, she was invited to speak at a panel discussion about the intersection of art and technology. Her diverse and impressive body of work continued to evolve and gain recognition in the following years.
Anna completed her Bachelor of Fine Art majoring in Painting in 2020. Her work was selected for the NAS stall at THE OTHER ARTFAIR in 2020. Her project in the third year of painting and drawing focused on the Spiritual in Art. She created a significant number of paintings, drawings, sculptures, and installations. The Gradshow was a tremendous success, despite the challenges of 2020. In March 2021, she participated in the IN/Visible group show at the Gaffa Gallery in collaboration with other recent NAS graduates. Additionally, in June 2021, she took part in the Incognito Art Show. Anna’s dedication to her craft continues to flourish as she actively engages in painting, drawing, photography, and creating art with 3D materials in her home studio. Notably, she recently completed an Art Administration course. In May 2022, Anna marked a significant milestone by having her first solo show in Australia at the prestigious Gaffa Gallery in Sydney. Her artistic journey is one of commitment, growth, and immense talent.
